The fact that there is so much evil proves there can not be a being that is powerful and smart enough to create the universe.

If there truly is free will then "there will always be one". One knucklehead, one hero, one devil and one wall flower. If there is free will there can be no other way. And there is no way to dial it down or calibrate it differently. You either have it all or none at all. Because if you take away the ability for the top 1% evil the argument still stands. We would never know of that missing 1% of devilish delight and still be wondering why God couldn't do away with top 1% evil that we know of. In fact the remaining evil would still appear just as evil to us. And so God would have to have make Robots and that would not be the experience / challenge and risk that we all face everyday in thing we call life.
