Science is powerful, but not infallible. Yesterday’s scientific consensus often becomes tomorrow’s discarded theory. To say science explains everything is to confuse our current, limited knowledge with ultimate truth. Besides science can't explain everything and for some things it can only go so deep. Explaining a phenomenon chemically or physically doesn’t mean you’ve exhausted its meaning. Explaining how paint sticks to canvas doesn’t explain the Mona Lisa. Explaining neurotransmitters doesn’t explain love, sacrifice, or courage.”

When we designate science to be the sole authority on the meaning of everything we go down a very dangerous road. Science is often wrong for long periods of time. Even large consensus of scientists have been wrong for long periods of time. When Scientists have been given the authority on morality for all of society they have at times come out with pure evil. For example eugenics, defending slavery, promoting racism, enacting horrifying experiments, advocating for euthanizing mentally handicapped people, and downplaying or covering up dangerous products to name a few.
