Atheist Argument
Version 1
(Version 1 of the "Divine Hiddenness" argument)
If a perfectly loving God exists, then every person should at least have the clear opportunity to know Him. A loving parent doesn’t play hide-and-seek with their children — they make themselves known. Yet countless sincere people search for God and find only silence. They pray, they beg, they cry out in their darkest hours — and nothing answers. Others live their entire lives without even hearing of the God they are supposedly judged by.
The excuses fall short. If God wants free love, clarity doesn’t destroy freedom; we still freely love our parents, spouses, or friends even though we know they exist. If God wants trust, trust is meaningless when all you encounter is silence. The reality is this: billions of people are “nonresistant nonbelievers” — genuinely open to God, yet left in the dark.
A perfectly loving God would not abandon His children in confusion or indifference. The fact that so many live and die in divine silence suggests that God either does not exist, or He is not the perfectly loving being believers claim.
